Music festivals are the ultimate celebration of both artist and audience. 2017 editions for many are officially in rearview and it’s time to think about making 2018 “I was there!” memories. Allow us to suggest the 10 iconic must-see events to catch your favorite artists in action.

 

#10. AFROPUNK FEST Brooklyn

Headliners (2017): Gary Clark JR, Michael Kiwanuka, Soul II Soul, Kaytranada

Afro Punk is a joyous event that embraces and celebrates the African spirit of rhythm and color, a community culture especially in the punk and alt scene. It’s lineup is always impressive with artists from urban and international scenes, punk and alt dance. It’s welcomes a colorful mix of artists and is celebrated by the coolest festival goers in the country, around 60 000 attended 2017. If you want a blank space to freak out in or just wanna be a bit rebellious for a night, get into the Afropunk movement…go on down to Brooklyn’s fest.

#8. Made In America

What Jay-Z touches becomes gold and the Made in America festival is no different. Made In America celebrates music, culture and rap, as well as pop music and pop culture. Jay-Z wanted to bring like minded people together and help them to "trade of each others culture". Never a bad thing in this time of unrest and distrust. Jay-Z for 2020!
This 2 day event is a great excuse to turn it into a weekend getaway with headliners you won’t be disappointed in.

#7. Electric Zoo

This annual electronic music festival event that takes place on Labor Day weekend in New York. Randall's Island Park goes from parkland to electronic dance xanadu, with the insanely creative brains who created Tomorrowland, Mysteryland and Sensation. A dance music festival like not other and one the goers always put on their festival calendar.

#6. Austin City Limits

Created by the folk behind Lollapollooza, this festival runs for three days over two weekend, and brings some serious big names to the lineup. With community events, a kids area, incredible food that Austin is known for, this is a destination festival to not miss.

#5. Pitchfork Music Festival

This three-day festival is a fusion of punk, rock, hip-hop, electronic, jazz, alt,  and anything else you can think of. Bringing together culture with art, record fair, amazing food and drinks, it’s a cultural festival with edge that attracts plus 50 000 music fans each year. Sometimes the simplest combinations are the best, this event has a lot to do with craft beer.

#4. The Governors Ball Music Festival

#3. Lollapalooza

A hugely popular and established festival, it first began in 1991 by Jane’s Addition signer Perry Farrell. An annual event of popular alternative rock we highly recommend you rock on down and get yourself immersed in a night of crushing beat. Catch emerging artists where many artists got their debut. Lollapalooza is a firm sentimental favorite for many.

#2. Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival

Bonnaroo is actually Creole for Good Stuff. And boy it is. Once more jam and rock, now it brings in something for everyone, with lineups that impress and expand every year. A favorite with music diehards, it’s a big deal to play at and an even better deal to attend.

I think this would be my top of list! 4 days, thousands of happy campers, literally, 10+ stages and comedy. Oh and of course it’s all wrapped up with the best sound stage(s) ever on a farm~!

Probably the most well known festival that rolls off the tongue, known to everyone is Coachella. An evergreen event that never loses it’s appeal to the artists or the festival goers. In the desert of Indio, Cali, it’s known for its fashion, tunes and celebrity attendance. A must see event before you die!
